Adaptive Music Lessons

Individualised, neuro-affirming music learning shaped around each young person.

Adaptive Music Sessions provide flexible, individualised and neuro-affirming opportunities for music learning and exploration. Sessions may include piano or instrument learning, singing, improvisation, musical play, creativity, songwriting and other musical activities according to the young person’s interests, strengths and needs.

My approach is informed by my professional training and experience as an Aotearoa New Zealand Registered Music Therapist (ANZ RMTh). This means I can adapt how music is taught and experienced in response to communication needs, sensory preferences, regulation, attention, movement, learning style and engagement.

Sessions may therefore look different from conventional music lessons. Taking breaks, moving around, changing activities, learning by ear, following a musical interest or spending time exploring music are all valid ways of participating.

Adaptive Music Sessions are offered as individualised music-based learning rather than formal music therapy sessions.
