Music Therapy Services

Personalised Music for Chronic Complex Illness

This programme supports people with chronic illness to reshape their relationship with music in ways that honour their body, energy, and changing capacity.

Through individual sessions, we explore pacing, sensory needs, and emotional wellbeing, developing personalised music strategies and playlists to support regulation, energy, and psychosocial wellbeing in daily life.

The programme includes a 1:1 one-hour consultation, tailored playlists, and follow-up support. Sessions are gently paced and guided by a trauma-informed, person-centred, and neuro-affirming approach.

Access to a Spotify or Apple Music account is required to engage with personalised playlists.

Music Therapy for End of Life Care

Music therapy can offer comfort, connection, and meaning during end-of-life care. Working alongside individuals and their whānau, sessions gently support symptom management, emotional expression, and the creation of meaningful legacy experiences such as music selection, storytelling, or recording. This work is guided by a trauma-informed, person-centred approach that honours dignity, choice, and cultural context.

Sessions can take place in the home, online, or within hospice and care home settings, depending on what feels most supportive and accessible.

Referrals are typically appropriate for individuals living with a life-limiting condition, often within the last 12 months of life, though timing can vary and earlier engagement may also be beneficial. Services are offered with flexibility and sensitivity to changing needs, with a focus on comfort, dignity, and connection throughout.

Contracted Music Therapy Services

Attuned offers contracted music therapy services across a range of community and care settings, including schools, early childhood and early intervention services, disability and rehabilitation, and aged care environments.

We welcome both individual referrals and enquiries from organisations interested in developing ongoing music therapy programmes tailored to their community. Services are shaped collaboratively, with a focus on accessibility, consistency, and meaningful therapeutic outcomes.

Contracted services are currently offered on a waitlist basis, with programmes established as demand allows for the expansion of the Attuned team. This approach ensures that all services remain grounded in quality, continuity, and a person-centred, trauma-informed framework.

Clinical Supervision, Consultation and Training

Attuned offers professional supervision, consultation, and training for therapists, educators, and care teams working across health, disability, and education settings.

Supervision provides a reflective, supportive space to explore practice, develop clinical thinking, and sustain wellbeing in complex and relational work. Sessions may include the use of creative methods such as music, imagery, and reflective processes to support deeper understanding and attunement. Attuned also welcomes and actively supports disabled and chronically ill practitioners, with supervision that is responsive to access needs, pacing, and lived experience.

Consultation and training are tailored to each setting, supporting teams to deepen understanding of nervous system regulation, relational practice, and the therapeutic use of music. This may include professional development, team-based reflection, and practical strategies to support inclusive and responsive care.

Attuned works collaboratively with organisations to support thoughtful, sustainable practice that benefits both practitioners and the people they support.
